A change in Iowa law would allow home-schooled students to take online courses without enrolling in a public or private school. The Iowa Department of Education has recommended the Legislature open access to the state’s Iowa Learning Online program. Currently, home-school students who want to access the state’s virtual education platform must first dual enroll in either a public or private school. The bill would remove that hurdle. Gov. Kim Reynolds has expressed support for opening online education to home-schoolers.
